Hi,
None of us ever suspected with the beginning of 2020 that we would experience a pandemic which has called for stay-at-home orders, social distancing, and the wearing of a face mask. Covid-19 has changed our country and what it means to be prepared.
As I have walked through the last few months of uncertainty with my own family, and getting my family's ducks in a row, I felt like I couldn't keep this all to myself.
Because there is something that I have been fortunate enough to create and share with you during this very uncertain time.
So, if you have ever told yourself, this is the year I am going to get my ducks in a row and get all my vital and personal documents organized so that I don’t have to worry when an emergency happens…
Then this is the most important information you’ll read in 2021.
Here’s Why….
What if I were to tell you that long gone are the days when the only information we needed to know about our lives to keep things on track was our phone number, our social security number, and our date of birth. Even those of us who have chosen to simplify life have heaps of information to keep track of and that task can be daunting…
We ask questions like…
Where do I find the time?
Where do I even start?
What documents do I need?
Pretty intense right?
It seemed overwhelming to me at first too! I live in an area where we seem to get a tropical storm or hurricane every year. And on the Neighborhood app page there is a post every other day about break-ins or mail theft. We are currently in a pandemic where having your medical documents secure and ready is a must. Just turn on the news and you can start to have that internal conversation…Am I really ready if something bad were to happen?
Trust me…natural disasters, sudden illness, disability, theft, and even death occur at the most inconvenient times.
So I decided, I needed to be ready.
I started to think about the documents I had and the ones I didn’t have, searching on the government emergency preparedness sites for what I needed, and began to see how I could logically arrange these and a system began to form.
The reason I am sharing all this with you is because I want the same for you.
I don’t want you to have to go through the trial and error I had to. ☹
You know where you are and probably where you need to be….
BUT
Do You Know How to Get There?
The truth is, there is a LOT to do….
Gathering all your personal information, your safety net, location of assets, home furnishings, money, debt, insurance, medical, even your last wishes...
Wow.
I had to work all this stuff out on my own with so much trial and error and it wasn’t exactly fun. It felt kinda like a jigsaw puzzle with so many pieces that I had to put together…
Without knowing what all the documents were or even where they were hiding.
If you currently feel like this and are struggling with overwhelm…
I can guarantee I have also felt the same way.
BUT….
What I discovered was that all it took was having ONE great system…to completely transform things.
To help you get from where you are to where you want to be.
Since that moment, where I knew I needed to get myself and my family prepared for when an emergency happens instead of “if” an emergency happens…
I have now been able to go on and do the same for other families.
Ducks in a Row is a 2 part System. The first piece is the Ducks in a Row Workbook. This is a digital download that includes an introduction, instructions and 9 areas to get you, your assets, and your vital documents finally organized.
As you are compiling the Ducks in a Row Workbook, you will be able to request missing documents from appropriate state/government agencies and companies.
In addition, your personal documents will be organized as you use the Paper Retention Guidelines to purge/shred any papers that you no longer need to keep as you go along. You’ll be amazed at the amount of paper you no longer need to keep!
Once you complete the Workbook, you store that information on two external flash drives
Keep one in a safe place, and give the second to your attorney, a trusted family member, or friend.
Keeping important documents organized at home is a key part of safety. Just as much as your home security system.
Ensuring your vital documents and critical records are safe and easily accessible will save you quite a bit of hassle in the future…
By taking the time to fill in your personal information into the Ducks in a Row Workbook, you and those you trust will know what you have, where it is located and how it can be easily accessed.

I want to help answer those for you now ☺
I’ve taken the top questions I’ve been asked about Ducks in a Row and popped them in below with the answers….
In case you were wondering the same thing.
Question #1. Who will this work for?
Such a great question…
To be honest, anyone.
If you have been alive for longer than 5 minutes then you have a vital document that you are responsible for. You can't do anything without a vital document.
You need a form of identification for almost everything. Renting a home, opening a bank account, applying for food stamps and much more but what if you don't have anything to prove your identity?
That is why it imperative that you have a system that allows you to know where it is located and can be easily accessed.
Question #2. Will I be able to complete this by myself?
Yes!
Decide on a realistic timeline and schedule to work on this project and an ideal completion date. Write this in your planner and stick to it.
Each section of the Workbook takes you through a thorough and comprehensive step by step worksheet.
Question #3. What if I don’t have all of my vital documents?
That is okay!
By going through each section of the Ducks in a Row Workbook, you will be able to request copies of missing documents from the appropriate agencies and companies. If there are vital documents that need to be created like a Will, or Health Care Proxy, you can schedule to have them completed by a professional so that you will truly have all of your vital and personal documents completed and organized.
Question #4. How long will it take me to complete?
Great question!
Some of the sections will move quickly as you enter in your information. Other sections, like My Wishes, which deals with your funeral and burial arrangements to include Letter of Instruction or “Love Letters” to those you leave behind upon your death, may take you longer to complete. An ideal time to complete the Workbook would be between 2-4 weeks.
